JUST ARRIVED: NEW COVID-19 VACCINES ARRIVED IN GHANA
New COVID-19 vaccines have arrived in Ghana per the pledge given by the United Kingdom’s Prime Minister; Mr. Boris Johnson.
The amount and the type of vaccines received today August 19, 2021 is 249,600 AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.
Mr. Boris Johnson assured the world at the G7 meeting that was held in June that the UK government will share 100 million Jabs to the rest of the world.
The Ministry of Health, Ghana posted on Facebook today 19th August, 2021 about eleven years ago.
“The donation is part of a broader pledge by the UK Prime Minister, Mr. Boris Johnson at the G7 meeting in June, in which the UK government will share 100 million jabs with the rest of the world, of which 80% will go through COVAX.”
The Deputy Minister for Health, Hon. Tina Mensah spoke to the media at Kotoka International Airport.
She said “the donation comes at a time when the government of Ghana has dedicated a lot of resources through the efforts of the Minister for health to manage the Covid-19 pandemic, at the same time addressing the general health needs of the population.”
According to her “the donation is a further demonstration of the partnership between the UK government and the rest of the world, of which Ghana is part, and commended the UK Government, UNICEF, WHO and other stakeholders for their continuous support.”
